Based on a 68-week clinical trial of adults without type 2 diabetes who had obesity, or overweight with at least one weight-related condition, in which participants taking Wegovy® 2.4 mg lost an average of 14.9% of their body weight, compared with 2.4% for participants taking placebo. All participants followed a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Individual results vary.

What is Wegovy®?
Wegovy® is an FDA-approved prescription GLP-1 medication containing semaglutide. Along with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, it is used to help eligible adults with obesity or overweight lose weight and keep it off.
How is the Wegovy® injection different from the Wegovy® pill?
Both contain the same active ingredient, semaglutide. The Wegovy® pill is taken by mouth once daily, while the injection is administered once weekly. Your provider will determine which option is appropriate for you.
How do you take Wegovy® injections?
Wegovy® is injected under the skin once weekly using a prefilled pen. If prescribed, your provider and pharmacy will give you specific dosing and administration instructions.
What are the side effects of Wegovy®?
Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, stomach pain, bloating, and indigestion. These effects are often more noticeable when starting treatment or increasing your dose and may improve as your body adjusts. Contact your healthcare provider if any side effect is severe, persistent, or bothersome.
Who shouldn’t take Wegovy®?
Wegovy® should not be used by people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), those with multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), or anyone who has had a serious allergic reaction to semaglutide or another ingredient in Wegovy®. Wegovy® is not recommended for people with severe gastroparesis. Tell your provider if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, take insulin or certain diabetes medications, or have a history of pancreas, gallbladder, kidney, or diabetic eye problems. Stop at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy.
